Is there a way to search for all the users that are located in the same country as you? Is there a way to search by email to see if any of your friends are also on the site?
The only way to do this at the moment is to use the member list page where you can sort by country. I'll look at adding some kind of filtering to this page to make it easier to use. You can't search by email address as this information for other users isn't publicly available because of privacy/security reasons.
