Note: Can everyone newer to this thread be consistent; a lot of content "have they reviewed something or are they just throwing stuff out for shiggles" is being buried and it would be really considerate if people put their review and their recommendation to the previous user in the same post instead of spreading posts apart. I do NOT have the time with my schedule to be digging about and it would be beneficial for this thread to be cohesive.
Really disappointing from the Moody Blues camp; Blue Jays shows bits of promise but overall feels like it’s a bunch of second rate material that is wasting my time—which is the opposite of how I feel about the Moody Blues (though I will admit I like ‘Octave’ by the aforementioned band about as much as I like this). There’s a few songs that aren’t too bad and I do enjoy quite a bit such as “This Morning”. Yeah, didn’t quite hate this one but I didn’t really enjoy listening to it much.
This album is the bomb, I've found myself more than once trying to think of something to write while listening to it but was unable to do so cause I was just taken by the music, moving my body freneticly. You can always trust Drift and it doesn't let you down, cause it never stops bringing more and diverse sounds that keep it interesting the whole way through, while still managing to be comforting, with a steady sound and feeling behind the sounds, idk, like a rave party inside a cave whose entrance is covered by a waterfall.
So this was interesting. Had kind of a Current 93 feel to it. The storytelling was excellent, the music around it could've been better, but overall a pretty cool listen.
I don't know if you're just being subtly successful at converting me to Gowi-core or if I'm just slowly becoming more acclimated to this kind of less gloomy, less hip metal ( 😜 ). Anyway, I really enjoyed this. Though given my limited experience with progressive metal of any kind I'm not entirely sure why. Her vocal performance blended really well with the building of the guitars and the neoclassical elements didn't feel forced (I'm usually really skeptical of symphonic metal of any kind but this surprised me). Same goes with the heavy use of synths. Feel like they should've annoyed me to death, but nope, dug it all. Interesting dynamics, tight instrumentation. I'll definitely revisit this when I feel I've enough experience to really put into a broader context just what I'm liking here, but hey in any case it was dope. 😁
