Georg Friedrich Haas: Works For Ensemble by Enno Poppe / Collegium Novum Zรผrich

Okay, so I did double duty today: Along with listening to this, I also relistened to Haas's masterpiece

Georg Friedrich Haas: In Vain by Sylvain Cambreling / Klangforum Wien
to see how the two compare.

I don't think any of these pieces fit here measure up to the hour-long grandeur of In Vain; they definitely had their moments, but they didn't put me in the pure trance mode that makes the latter so unforgettable. Still a very good comp, though. I really should study Haas's immersion techniques more.

Rocky, are you in for a little rawk-n-roal deconstruction?

It was pretty great ๐Ÿ˜„ It had some slightly cringy moments with the vocals, but I really loved how it continually switched styles in this sort of song suite.

Hey, how about this, Shadowoop

Really solid blackened sludge metal. Plodding and dark and deceptively atmospheric at times. Doesn't break a whole lotta new ground but I really enjoyed it for what it was. Will probably revisit ๐Ÿ˜„

I'm sorry, but I just wasn't that into it. I'm glad you liked Orakel tho.

Here DBZ I got one for you, gonna try another Savant recommendation.

Protos by Savant

I remember you saying that if I had something weird or unique from my library, that you would like to hear it, so here you are. This is an album inspired by saturday morning cartoons. Enjoy.

Hit Vibes by Saint Pepsi

I'm pretty sure this one is for me (this thread really does get too confusing for me), I dunno otherwise I didn't really get an album so I'm gonna edit my thoughts in on this one no matter what. Heard some saint pepsi before, I think gin city? Don't think I've heard this one tho.

Hmm, it's well put together. I dunno, it just doesn't have a hook for me. Like I feel like it's good for sure, but I don't feel like I understand this sorta thing to have a more nuanced appreciation of it. Like I do hear stuff like this a lot, but there's stuff that better gives me a sense of personality, the sample sources used here just sorta feel like what's been trendy lately.

I enjoyed this. It was almost like Onkyo Muzak, and as much as that sounds like a backhanded compliment, I really think there should be more music like this. It was really relaxing for doing my editorial proofreading this morning.
