Boosie has been steadily killing it since he came out of prison (a fantastic mixtape last year, plus a healthy number of dope loosies and features), but this is the culmination of everything he's been doing in the last year or so. As always with Boosie, this shit is impassioned as fuck, but we're definitely seeing a more mature, world-weary Boosie here. Strays a little close to overwrought cheese at times, but with more than enough grit to keep it solid and affecting throughout. That "Tupac of the South" title doesn't seem like such a stretch anymore. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
Really liked that Holydrug Couple album a lot. Onto the most recent Brian Jonestown Massacre album now. Haven't listened to them in a looooooong time so this'll be a nice revisit.
