Oh hey Nurse With Wound. This stuff had never super clicked with me, there's a lot that I like for sure (and their big list of music is one of the best lists ever). But there's something about the presence of the guitar here, I dunno. I definitely liked this album on this listen, but the way the guitar would get sorta jammy, it just felt kinda distancing and like it didn't make sense with everything around it. I definitely get why this has the status it does and I think it's deserved, I just don't think this music is as geared towards my particular interests as much as some other similar things. I'm glad I got another listen in here though and plan on coming back to it again.
Really really beautiful piece, I loved it. Had sort of an Arvo Part feel to it at times, the violin was beautiful, and when the piece got big, it was majestic and powerful. Great stuff, thanks!
oof. Not the best thing around that's for sure. Felt entirely bland and uninspired, I mean, I feel like grunge could be done today in a good way, I don't think the genre is entirely dead, I don't think it is relegated to one specific place in time forever, but it'd be difficult not to make a new grunge album that sounds interesting and different, as the genre itself is fairly limited. Add in the fact that the lyrics are pretty cringey at times (see: "Glass Bad Ass") and, well, yea, not a great album. It wasn't like, offensively bad, but it was just entirely uninteresting.
What seems to be an industrial classic that I’ve looked over, but then again my experience in industrial in general as an artform is rudimentary at best. Consistently interesting with some great textures and sounds clipped into the production. I would like to know more about Test Dept, so that’s something to do when the mood suits me. Not sure if this particular piece will chart for me, but it is something I will revisit and explore again.
House sure is crowded (don't dream it's over), but this has a certain flair that helps it stick out. There's a throwback kind of element with the vocal samples that I'm not sure is as common in a lot of the stuff getting made lately, it still has a bit of that refined seriousness to things but it still seems oriented towards being fun. Like I guess Four Tet has been doing some similar stuff with the looped vocal phrases, I dunno maybe I'm just ignorant of the trends but I don't think I encounter it that often anymore. I think the tracks that do that stuff are my favs. I dunno if I'd rank it among the best, but it is finding an interesting take on things and is really nice to listen to.

That album should be also known as Focus II, so it should be a studio album from 1971 _________________ Progressive Rock
