A million Saoirse smooches for using Sepultra and Beat Happening on the same team.

Anyways yeah definitely leaning 89. Rum Sodomy and the Lash is my favorite album across both teams and I secretly love Songs from the Big Chair, but Hunting High and Low is a puzzling album pick ("Take on Me" would've done a lot more damage as a single as the album is highly inconsistent) and why why Bryan Ferry (????), haven't heard Little Desert though so will try to squeeze it in. Singles range from excellent to quite listenable to more than a bit cheesy, though I have an uncomfortable feeling there's going to be a lot of recycling which personally puts me off it a bit, but still good team regardless. 89 though is pretty consistently terrific, the great underrated Sepultra album and the always wonderful prescense of Olympia heroes Beat Happening (despite being wedged between two even more amazing albums, though still pretty ecstatic regardless) and can even accept the less-than-stellar Nirvana debut. Singles team top-to-bottom excelleance. So will still try to listen to what I haven't heard but likely 89 this round.

See, this is the feedback I need.

My aim is to have at least one album that is unique. It might be a hindrance; who knows.

I was stuck on the singles as I am not sure how to approach it - popularity or something else?

a-ha's addition was a mistake I must admit. I did a bit of research, looking for what people liked and it did creep up at times.

Let's see.

1989:

I love: Express Yourself, You Should All Be Murdered

I like: Snowball, Pop Song '89, Veronica

OK: Bleach

I haven't heard: Black Candy (should!), Beneath the Remains

I don't like: Philip Glass, One

bof.

1985

I love: Rum, Sodomy & the Lash, Close to Me

I like: Boys and Girls

OK: Hunting High and Low, Downtown Train

I haven't heard: The Little Desert (should I?)

I don't like: Songs from the Big Chair, this version of Dancing in the Streets, We Don't Need Another Hero, Kayleigh

Too many things I don't like on this '85 team. Even though the only album I love is on the '85 team, voting '89.

I HIGHLY recommend Black Candy and Beneath the Remains!!! Even for someone who doesn;t like metal, Beneath The Remains transcends the genre and is easily one of the best metal records of the 80s and certainly 1989

I recommend The Little Desert. It's quite tasteful New Age music/ambient with obvious influence from Eno's ambient series and The Pearl as well as a decent Sophisti pop first track. One of Borejko's better Australian recs tbh. Laughing
