Ohhh. Okay, just listened to Focus II. It started off really strong with Hocus Pocus, but it was such a slog for most of the middle. It's not bad, but I think I'll always prefer my Fuzzy Duck for C-grade 1971 prog.

Rocky: Let's give you some uncool that's actually outside your comfort zone ๐Ÿ˜‰

Come Read The Words Forbidden by Morton

Really good stuff. Technical without it being dull, a real emphasis on melody but at the same time, very interesting. The riffs are well-structured, the solos are flashy, but not overly so, the drums are big and heavy, the vocals are awesome, it's great stuff. The guitar playing, for me (surprise), is the highlight. It's not that technically impressive but boring shredding stuff, it's melodic and has a purpose. Thanks!

I'll take the Enya one since Apple seemed to pick it for me.

You can have this:

So would you believe me if I told you that I didn't hate this at all? I used to have this thing in my first year of college where we listened to Enya, I don't know why but we did. My only thing with Enya is that it can get a little boring at times. She really emphasizes atmosphere, and she's good at it often, but sometimes it drags. All that being said, it's still kinda cool, I can dig it. Though the fact that this comp doesn't have "Only Time" on it is a travesty.

So I'm gonna assume that secretdad's rec is for Gowi, so this is for you Apple:

Oh huh, this is sounding cool. I looked for some info and saw that a lot of this seems to be taking influence from Charlie Parker and I was like "ohhhhhhhhh yeah because Bird". I really haven't listened to much of his stuff, and I feel like I really need to before I put this on my 2015 chart. But I'm digging it, it does feel like there's some fresh twists going on, tho I don't feel informed enough to articulate that at all. But yeah this all goes down really smooth, even stuff like Bird Calls #2 which gets a little bit odd on the texture or whatever the term would be. But it's not all boring and starbucks, it's just friendly. I'll be playin this a bit for sure (and also dig into some Charlie Parker). I should probably get some more context on Mahanthappa and check out his other stuff...

Ok Rocky I think you're up then, have you heard this:

Quarup by Lupe De Lupe

Man this is beginning to be my favorite thread of all time haha!

Okay now moving to the album...
I really do love double albums, I don't know if this one is but I'm counting it as one, since it is big ass long, but If I had a time machine, took a trip and then came back to home and found this playing In my jukebox (that I didn't stole from a 70s bar...maybe) I would say I got this from the 80s, It's a underground odyssey, I can clearly see dinosaur jr at times, sometimes SY, and sometimes it is just Brazil which I absolutely loved, also + 300 Antonio love points for succeeding mix the Brazilian roots, and its manias into all this noise. Definitively not expecting this one to hit me as their EP last year in which the eroticism not only in the cover but in the music makes the naked sounds so goood. The bad thing is that the EP was kinda short...meh it's an GODDAMN EP ANTONIO! But this one, I love how it is long, and still manages to not bore me, It bleeds raw but sometimes just has a poeticly impact. It's been weird How I've been Addicted to the "O futuro รฉ feminino" that I've been singing it in the busรฃo, hahaha. Thanks brun, you're the best.

Oh hmm, I'm presuming it's this one called Let's Dance Raw from 2014? It has that album cover, listening now, and huh this is the last thing I would've expected, pretty voice and guitar and flute thing. Hmm maybe this is just an outlier? The cover is black and white and has a skeleton on it. Huh nope, this is committed to smoothness. This second track is getting weirder now with some pitched up vocals and things. There's a twist here for sure. It's interesting, and I'm surprised this isn't on here/more popular. I'm not sure if this is for me though, it's really smooth. And I dunno I do like some stuff that is maybe similar, I think I just have a weird need for heavier drums and stuff, like it just gets too floaty for me? I don't even know if that makes sense, but it's definitely just something with me and not a fault of the music. There is fun instrumentation for sure. And it totally works for chilling out, it feels like it's picking up in tempo and that seems to be working. But the weirdness kinda died down. Oh wait its kinda back for You Can Be A Robot Too. Yeah this seems solid, but not the sorta thing I reach for.

So then Antonio, have you heard this?

Pollution by Franco Battiato

Sorry that it took so long to get to this, I was busy and had trouble trying to find obscure albums. But now I'll be back in giving you guys new recs in a moment.

Anyway, I don't know what to make of this. It was interesting indeed. It was like if Faust actually gave us melodies and all that stuff. The reason I compared them to Faust is because of the classical music samples and different motifs fading in and out within each song. Doesn't mean Franco Battatio didn't rip off anything, they have their own identity. This was some interesting progressive rock/experimental rock/space rock (I don't know what to call this actually). I did enjoy it.

Anyway, it looks like I'll have to make up for lost time and give you a rec of my own, secretdad. Here you go:
