The Most Lamentable Tragedy by Titus Andronicus

Who's already listened to this and what are your thoughts? Should have mine waiting in the mailbox when I get home. Excited to hear it.

Just listened to it yesterday. It's good, pretty much what you'd expect from them sound-wise. It's 90+ minutes, and double albums rarely work particularly well, but they do a pretty good job with it. The length works against them though, it does get a little long, but that's really my only complaint about the album. It's an interesting little story they tell, the music is what they're great at, that aggressive, guitar-heavy indie rock with dashes of punk thrown in. If you liked The Monitor, you'll like it.

Sounds like I'll love it then. I'd read that it's 90+ minutes and a 5 part concept album that has a lot to do with his personal struggles. Might be tough to find the time to listen to it all at once but I'm going to try.

The new Quelle Chris is dope, the new Gunplay is entertaining, and there's also this:

Hauntologists - Hauntologists (2015)

Sleek, sexy, slightly warped house/minimal techno from Berlin. Stefan Schneider is from To Rococo Rot and was also partly responsible for that Schneider Kacirek record which came out earlier in the year, and this is a collaboration with Jay Ahern, the Detroit techno veteran who was behind Aquarhythms back in the day. Got a really breezy, organic feel to it, but with a definite dark undercurrent. Wonderful stuff. This is actually a bit of a compilation of tracks previously released across a few EPs, but it's my introduction to the pair in this particular guise. Very highly recommended.

I'll be checking this out after Kacey. See where the To Rococo Rot bassist is heading. He really shined on 2010's Speculation, though I think he's been with the group since the '90s.

New Arca in the fall ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I'm hoping he goes back to the sound on his Stretch EP's or &&&&&.... I still think Xen fell a bit short.

I don't think anyone has ever been satisfied hoping for this, with anyone.

Oh this is out

Gruidรฉs by Stephen O'Malley

Stephen O'Malley from Sunn O))) wrote some music for the French 35-piece improv orchestra ONCEIM, so lots of drones and doom but without all the electricity and distortion. Very good stuff.

If I've Only One Time Askin' by Daniel Romano

One of the best country albums I've ever heard and I could easily see this eventually becoming my AOTY.

If you dig Willie Nelson or George Jones (he's covered on this album) or just old-time, cryin' in the rain country, go here. Romano takes the old sentiments of country music and makes them his own with beautiful songwriting and an incredible gift for melody. Check this out now, it's amazing.

Looking forward to hearing this - really enjoyed his last couple records.
