One of my least favourite PJ record so far, re-evaluating now. My main "problem" with the record is I don't like the trip-hoppish rhythms she used, and made otherwise possibly good songs into, at the time, state-of-the-art, I'm-a-woman-of-my-times sort of mostly bland offerings. Shame though, there's a handful of good songs, notably "The Sky Lit Up".
Forgot to say that I'm almost done, and it's very excellent. It will take a few more listens to know for sure how much I like it. It definitely has a little more extended jamming than "More Than Any Other Day," and less of the contrast between quiet and loud that that album had. These songs mostly just jump right into the noise, and although I liked the quiet portions a lot in "More Than Any Other Day" I am surprised that I don't really miss them very much in this one. Also, Beautiful Blue Sky is probably my favorite song on either album. _________________ Overall - The 2010's - 2020
Excellent chanson. Easy-going, almost nursery-rhymily merry, music; to sometimes the cruelest around (awful "Attention" in which a man apparently blames his wife for not being able to take care of the child). What a fortunate re-listen.
