Eh, it's ok. "New Americana" is pretty rough, the whole chorus is exceptionally cringey. Other than that it's an ok album, relatively forgettable in all honesty. It's not bad, but it's not great either. _________________ Progressive Rock
Seceond Meredith Monk album I discover, and it's awesome too. Might give in to her discography. Beautiful, and even fun.
Commuting had me re-listen to the latest Four Tet, and my opinion hasn't changed much. While the rhythms on track 1 are splendid and so's the coda, the middle section outstays its welcome for far too long. The second track is better, with an intriguing use of voice.
I also had time to re-listen to Kath Bloom's lates, and it's very good indeed. What preserves it from being excellent all over is ywo or three tracks that sound really too samey for my comfort. Otherwise, lo-fi folk at its best, with delightful out of tune singing - most notably when there are backing vocals.
Basically if you're looking for a disjointed (practically rhythmless) glitchy wobbly, but still sugary, electronic EP, you've come to the right place. This is holy mother of god _________________
