New K.R.I.T. is always welcome - this new mixtape makes for seven solid-to-great releases this decade. Still think Live from the Underground is his best released, but I'd say this latest is his most varied stylistically, and it feels refreshingly modest in comparison to the (at times) overblown Cadillactica, even if that album is definitely much better than I remember it being. _________________ 2021 in full effect. My first listen, and my introduction to Car Seat Headrest. Apparently this is a bunch of re-workings of songs from Bandcamp releases which I've obviously never heard. Really excellent stuff. Muffled, catchy indie rock, reminiscent of The Strokes and CYHSY at their best, and with a very dry sense of humour. The sort of thing Stereogum would (/possibly already do) love, but much better than the vast majority of the shite that they promote. Nothing revolutionary whatsoever, but there's something extremely likeable about this. Getting a Teenage Fanclub vibe at times, not to mention hints of early R.E.M.
