Therapy?: reminds me of some of the Nu Metal that I'm not crazy about in the late 90s from America. Just not my cup of tea. I only really like really niche metal.
I hate Nu Metal ๐

I think I'm moving on from the 90s. There's probably tons more to discover, but I think what I'd discover I wouldn't be crazy about right away or at least wouldn't make my list. There's maybe 20 albums on the cusp of making my last 10 and so I kind of went with my gut on the last 10.
Anyway here it is for now (I also decided to use dihansse's grading on longer albums and therefore BSSM, Carnival and Mellon Collie made my top 10.
It appears we either have different taste on Thereapy? or I judged them too quickly (which is entirely possible) since I only listened to maybe 10 minutes of their music.
I think I'm finally learning something as I go through the 2000s for me.
Possibly why I have a hard time with musicians debuting past 2010 is they actually sound a lot like some of the music I didn't get into near the end of the 2000s.
I was an active Mormon and served a Mormon mission (Germany Munich/Austria mission). During 2004-2006 I didn't listen to any modern music. I listened only to music written before 1900.
I think something happened in about 2005 (like Sufjan's Illinois) where music started to change, and I was out of the loop. I came back and was still in the 90s/early 2000s and catching up on RHCP's Stadium Arcadium, Radiohead's In Rainbows came out a little later and even the Smashing Pumpkins "comeback" album Zeitgeist, and picking up where Garage Rock left off with acts like Black Keys, The Strokes, and White Stripes. Then America got into Muse finally.
In otherwords, there was so much good music from the 2000s that I loved from artists I already knew or were obvious connections with me because of my love of alternative rock and or late 60s early 70s rock (blues too), the Garage Rock movement made sense. Muse often the Radiohead wannabe band when they first came out... that was the commentary at least, I don't think so and like their response: Actually both bands were Jeff Buckley rip offs.
Anyway that's what excited me about music when I came back, even if some of it now I'm realizing was "altmodisch". I never really developed a taste for artists like the following, even if I do see high quality music from them:
Sufjan Stevens
Animal Collective
Bon Iver
Joanna Newsom
The XX
Any way... this is more introspect for me, but wanted to "diary" it.
Then again... there's stuff from every decade I wasn't into... maybe it isn't that at all... dunno. Just thoughts.

I haven't been out of the rock music loop and also for me the above artists/bands about sum up what I don't like in contemporary rock music and where I ask myself If there is something I don't get with maybe the addition of James Blake you didn't know. But there are still new good artists I do like like Courtney Barnett and Car Seat Headrest
