Basically, whenever you review an album that's been assigned to you in this thread, you recommend an album to the last person in the thread to recommend an album.
Does that make sense?
I mean, I guess the problem here is that there are many replies that don't directly recommend an album to other users and only focus in the album the user has received, if we could join everything in just on post this would flow better. You must, at some point, listen to the album posted directly underneath yours. In order to post an album below someone you are required to write a review of the album that was previously posted below you, including who suggested it, then your own suggested album for the person above you. If you've heard it already, feel obliged to give it another spin. No cheating or you're a bad person that sucks.
If you're new, then you get one free album post without writing a review (as you haven't been given an album yet).
So this album had a lot of tones and such that appealed to me, but the songwriting was too bland/amateur to excite me.
The bass reminded me much of stuff like Joy Division and Television. The guitar had a tinge of everything I like - sonic soundscapes, muddy/noisy distortion, but then a bunch of wanking guitar solos that were annoying. Drums were typical, not bad, not good, just run of the mill. The vocals just never lifted off either, nothing terribly interesting, but not bad.
It was kind of like listening to a cover band copying sounds made from the 60s through the 90s all in one. They have some fun tones that have been done before, but they just haven't found themselves yet.
REC: This is supposed to be specifically for ROCKY, but I think since I screwed up I'm going to give recs back to those that gave them to me. I think for me, I'll never suggest an album below an 80 (also will anyone punch me in the face if I suggest like a Beatles album? 🤣 ... sometimes it is refreshing to go back to basics... but idk, I kind of feel like this thread isn't for that.
GOWI: a group I really got into in high school... I see their limitations, but I like the almost mix between Dylan and Cobain lyrics and the bass of course.
DBZ: (I don't expect you to listen to all 15 hours, but I am interested with what you think about it, and I don't have a favorite recording just yet): This is probably the greatest Gesamtkunstwerk ever made. I spent a whole semester studying it from a literature perspective... wish I paid more attention even though I got an A in the class... there's just so much to learn about it.

ok so I'm just gonna take this one even though I don't think Seth meant for me to have it but the way the thread is organized I was the recipient so lol why not (and Seth I've listened to more than enough Wagner for one lifetime believe me).
ANYWAY, I went back and forth with this one. Far too often it seemed like an all-too-generic emo-flavored indie rock affair, but then these synths would come in that made the whole thing seem far more eccentric (and maybe a little Dismemberment Plan-esque) and most certainly improved my experience. This seems like the kind of album I would've absolutely loved around like 07-08, and tbf I still think my reaction here is overall a positive one, and even if it does get a little samey at times, it doesn't stay there for long before something pretty neat happens. (This would make good road trip music I reckon.)

Pretty, so very, very pretty. To put thing in perspective, I heard Judee Sill's song "The Kiss' before I put it on, and I thought it was terrible. But when I finished this album to and from my trek to The Great American Bagel, my mood was so improved that I ended up really finding Judee's S/T tolerable on second listen. I think this was supposed to be for me, but whatever, a couple extra reviews never hurt.
I thought this was alright. Indie rock that sounds kind of like The New Pornographers with a touch of emo to the lyrics. It started off cool, I liked the sound, and then every song kind of sounded the same. The same moog riff, the same lyrics, the same feel. I mean, it wasn't a bad sound by any stretch, but I think the album could have used a little variety. All that being said, not a bad album, just nothing particularly special to me.
