Ride The Lightning is by far the best Metallica album.
The only Metallica album I've listened through fully is Master of Puppets, so I can't say much on this, but For Whom The Bell Tolls and Fade To Black are two of my favourite Metallica songs, and I like them more than anything on Master Of Puppets or The Black Album.

Megadeth<=Metallica in the 80'
Megadeth>Metallica now
Nothing to say, I've not listened much to Megadeth.
LedZep wrote:
Iron Maiden>both of them
Again, haven't listened much to Iron Maiden, but I do like the few songs I know.
LedZep wrote:
Smiths are good, but overrated
I agree. They are a very good band, but not as great as this site seems to treat them; I prefer R.E.M.
LedZep wrote:
Guns n' Roses are nothing special
I thought everyone on this site hated Guns n' Roses? I agree with you; they're decent, but nothing great.
LedZep wrote:
The Cult is much better
Haven't listened to them.
LedZep wrote:
Neil Young=Bob Dylan, both equally good although I prefer Neil for albums and Dylan for individual songs
I agree on them being as good as each other and Young having better albums while Dylan has better singles.
LedZep wrote:
Nirvana=Pearl Jam=Soundgarden=Alice in Chains, Nirvana is certainly not better than any of these
I agree.
LedZep wrote:
Steven Wilson is a genius but his lyrics aren't THAT good
Haven't listened to him, have been meaning to though.
LedZep wrote:
Genesis after Gabriel sucks
I thought this was the popular opinion on this site? I definitely agree.
LedZep wrote:
I don't really like Beatles albumsโฆ
I would disagree if you were to say that The Beatles suck or are overrated, but I can't argue with you saying you don't like them personally.

if this is the stated goal, you've got to attack forum darlings (not necessarily the overall chart stuff). red house painters, olivier messiaen, kendrick lamar... actually, even if you attack the forum regular picks, you're probably not gonna piss off much of anyone.
that polly bradfield album though... _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
I don't know how controversial this is, but I really hate the fiddle. Just don't like screeching sounds.
all around? or just a particular style?
i can't stand a lot of that country stuff on the fiddle, but some of the celtic players are incredible.
tommy peoples is an absolute madman. if you're into ornamentation at all, he's kind of the king. the guy puts rolls on everything. double stops. trills. all of it. very virtuous player. it's really fun to listen to too.
the other guy i'm really high on, kevin burke, is more the artist. he's not necessarily gonna blow your mind with the over-the-top stuff, but he's a very dynamic player. he's great to hear live.
lunasa is pretty fun, but that's probably not your cup of tea. and solas... they're more of a celtic fusion thing, but their fiddler is pretty interesting. she doesn't really play the fiddle correctly, and she'd piss off any classical violinist for how she holds her instrument, but she's mastered her own approach to it.
OUTSIDE the celtic stuff, you'd be crazy not to love Kishi Bashi (srsly, the first track on Lighght) and Owen Pallett (lewis takes off his shirt), though i'm not sure that they are officially dubbed "fiddlers" rather than "violinists". the instrument is the same, and neither style is really associated with indie pop / rock... curious.
so yeah, you're being controversial. it's kind of a broad stroke too... reminds me of when i hear people say, "i don't like chinese food". _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
Yeah, I was thinking of a specific song from a video game soundtrack which I dislike when I made that comment, and I haven't delved into much music from virtuosos of the instrument, so I guess it's kind of silly to dismiss the entire instrument like that. I guess I can change my complaint to "I don't like bad fiddle playing", just as I dislike poor violin playing.
and i've got to say, as much as i love a bit of bad fiddling, bad saxophoning is even better - especially to a nice, bad beat of a cheap drum kit. or bad singing/guitaring with a bad drummer... i can't remember which Daniel Johnston album that was where he collaborated with a drummer, but it was pretty tight. or loose, i guess. i dig it though. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
Kendrick Lamar is the most overrated artist of this age.
I have a hard time agreeing with this in any sense. Obviously this is the controversial opinion thread so good work, but if your answer for the question "Who is the most overrated musical artist of this era?" and the answer isn't Taylor Swift, then the answer should be disqualified. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

but everybody knows taylor swift is just a mainstream sellout. kendrick (and kanye imo) are praised by critics, sell a lot, and i agree that they are not that much.
reminder that kendrick did a remix for a song for taylor swift.
