No. Considering Discharge was recording all the way up to 1979, and it is abundantly clear Discharge (and Crust Punk in general) is a central influence of thrash and speed metal bands that were developing at the time of which Venom is included it is not the other way around. |
I didnt speak of thrash metal, i was just speaking of Venom. Discharge were just Sex Pistols imitators until '79 and Venom started playing in '79 too, and Venom started recording things the same year Discharge started recording the raw stuff. Also i've never heard of Discharge speaking about Venom's influences (but if you have something then link). Most probably both bands influenced each others during those years. However Discharge's HNSNSN, which is their most important work, was sure influenced by Venom.
Also i dont know much about, but wasn't crust punk born during the middle 80s?

Welcome to hell has high energy and despite not really even knowing what the music sounded like, the album was good precisely due to that energy.
Thrène was unmemorable or more along the lines of not complete to begin with. Perhaps it's the way the group wanted to sound, but it really didn't feel all there and the atmosphere wasn't all that good.
EDIT: vote to venom.
