Exactly. You can't hate on prog then say you love paranoid android.
I made a list of albums that should not be hated.

Yes, but there is someting completely lifeless in bad prog music. Whereas there is life in U2's music.
And there is life in the atmospheric music of Pink Floyd as well.

There's something completely lifeless in ALL bad music. And that's an opinion about U2 and Shine On You Crazy Diamond, neither of which do a thing for me.

I don't think that is true. I think that progressive rock is a genre that excel at lifelessness!
That said, I like some prog albums a lot: "The lamb lies down on Broadway", for instance.

I'm not really a prog guy but I mainly blame the music press I grew up with for that. It was far too black and white punk = great, prog = horrible. Then you find out quite a few punks are secret prog fanatics. It's a yin and Yang thing for me now. I'd rather have some of both than all one or the other. I'm a human being, I like to experience more than one kind of mood.

True, some of it is lifeless . I only like some prog rock., but the stuff I like, I like a REAL LOT cuz I don't find it lifeless at all . And the stuff I don't like I tend to find ifeless or just not all that enjoyable. But you can say that about any kind of music.

I can't believe there are 19 posts and only one person told me what their favorite prog rock albums are. And that was the original question. HA HA HA.

The best progressive rock is not "overblown" it's the opposite ie Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound by Genesis and Fragile by Yes. Brilliantly imaginative and subtle from what I can tell. Though just a novice "Progressive" is an apt title. Everything Pink Floyd is not.
