Album 34: More chilled electronics from the 2000's

Link

This has been one of these records that I have come back to a lot. Probably have this maybe 5 listening sessions? And this record is so good. There are moments on this record that remind me of the obscured Bent's Programmed To Love. As well as being a dreamy, lofty space age record. My personal favorite track from this record has to be the second to last track. The saxophone in the piece as well as the song itself is just a gorgeous song. Feels like I am drifting through the night sky. There are points that make me consider giving it a 100. But 2001 as a year of music has been impressing me so much that I need to keep myself from going out of hand. So the Grade:95
But seriously, if you have not heard this or Programmed To Love please do.
In fact here is the youtube link for that record.

Album 35. Damn I miss the witty titles.
So it has been a couple days. And I been holding on to some records to talk about. Hell, I have hit listening to 200 albums. To me, that is completely insane. I have never thought I would ever get to do that.
And now are feature presentation.

Man, I love this duo a lot. The last time I mentioned this duo, I was describing my undying love for there underappreciated masterpiece Caracal. After two years of that album's release, I am still finding details to this day. As well as being floored. So I went back to listen to their debut. And even though my criticisms I do hold for this record still stand where the record gets samey sounding as well having minimal construction of the instrumentals, this was a fun record. The card that Settle has over their next record is that it is instantaneous. These songs do get stuck in my head. And during my listen I couldn't stay sitting.
I'm glad that I got this record under my belt. Because I realized that this duo will hopefully stay on my love list in electronic music.
Grade:90
P.S Can I get other users to hopefully try and adore Caracal? Please? ๐Ÿ™
I don't want to be stuck at my lonely table of one.

Album 36: A new beginning to a well acclaimed artist!

Yes, I finally started to tackle an artist that was in my rock recommendations. And I have to say the person who recommended this to me, this was great. Love the mix of folk, rock hip hop and funk music that is created for this record. Love a lot of the songs off this record. The New Pollution, Jack Ass, Sissyneck, Devils Haircut, High 5, Ramshackle and Where's It's At were so much fun. Still is a great record after 20 years being out. The only song that I wasn't vibing to was the ending. That was a bit of a wimper to end the record off.
Grade:85
P.S The grades can go up or down depending on how I feel.

For Hayden.
So on his recent forum in the music diary section about music. I decided to check out the section he did for China.
On the first pick it was the album MTK by Ayrtbh.

My only complaint I have with this album is maybe allowing the songs have melodic composition to the tracks. But as it is, this was a great record. The tinkering of sounds made me feel that I was at a hi tech factory in the future. If you vibe with any of the early Autechre records or enjoyed the blobby details on an album like Vulnicura, I say give this record a listen. It is a quick one.
Grade:80

Now his other pick he gave out was the record Lack by Pan Daijing

And I got to say, I wasn't really feeling this one. This does have the intriguing factor towards it. I mean look at this thumbnail for the performance.

It does has eerie undertones. And there are tracks I do love like A Loving Tounge, Act of The Empress and Lucid Morto. But a good amount of this record to me just felt like the artist was just fucking around. Not giving a sense of structure. And the album just felt like it needed more built instrumentals. Meh.
Grade:60

Album 37 Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well, we are finally here. A record that I just don't like. And believe me, if I continue listening to albums I will find records that are meh to terrible. And this record is just MEH. Gets to be borderline bad. I remember hearing songs like Weak and I'm Not Famous on the radio due to Siriux XM running out in my car. And I found theses songs just trying way to hard to be endearing but just end up being safe and bland. And a bit irritating. Kind of reminds me of Jon Bellion with his song Low. And I do not like that song. Hell when he quotes about Andre 3000, I rather listen to Prototype. That song is amazing.

But back to AJR, this record is a boring mish-mash of genres that thinks it is ahead of the curve but other artists and groups were way more inventive, auto-tune vocals that get tiring really quick and lyrics that are eye roll ready.

If you want records that have a mish mash of genres that are compelling look up Mr.Bungle's California. Or if you want records that give this feeling look up Sufjan Stevens The Age of Adz or Sweet Trip's Velocity:Design:Comfort. But with this record. No.
Grade:40
Also I could get worse. Might listen to this and give more details why this isn't a good record. Or go listen to other records that I could find bad.

If you liked Narkopop, or any Gas album, you'll love this.

La Equidistancia by Leandro Fresco & Rafael Anton Irisarri

And another excellent one from 2017.

Tried out the second record from this comment. And I have to say it is a good record. I do enjoy the old school synth work on this. Gives atmosphere and something that can get in my head. Just more intrigued what the artist can do in an album length. So for Pye, that record would get a 75 from me.

Bruh, I needed to get back to Ulrich and his sophomore record so far is gorgeous. Should have put him in the dreamy electronics discussion I had.

Wanted to list some records that I have put time into but haven't finished. Probably doing other stuff or got distracted. Do want to review these records but aren't going to be the ones I go to immediately.

If anyone wants the names for these records, let me know.
