So far this album seems a lot less... ambitious than Twisted Fantasy.
It's just kinda forgettable. It's forgettable, and way too "pop". I loved how Twisted Fantasy was introspective and observant, but this is just generic hip hop. |
can't really half an opinion have way through track #2...but yea, the album IS called "Watch The Throne", and it is half Jay-Z, so braggadocio rap (which isn't always a negative imo) is to be expected.
I agree, it's less ambitious than MBDTF...but it's ambitious nonetheless...wouldn't call it a pop album, imo musically this is the most innovative, powerful rap album since MBDTF.
Lift Off is hands down the worst track...should've been replaced by The Joy or Primetime

Chicago Tribute - 2/4
Spin - 6/10
Entertainment Weekly - B-
Pitchfork - 8.5/10
Usa Today - 4/4
And after the third listen, I'm giving it a 4/5 stars. It got better every listen. Why I Love You is my favourite track 😄
