A Tribe Called Quest last album (We Got It From Hereโ€ฆ Thank You 4 Your Service 2016) now ranks higher on BEA than their first album (Peopleโ€™s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm 1990).

Which one do you like best ?

Do you think We Got It From Here is going to overtake Midnight Marauders ? Or even The Low End Theory ??

I mean We Got It From Here... has much better production since technology has advanced that much more since the 90's. I'd say its the most interesting album in their entire discography. It's definitely the one i'm going to play if I have to play a Tribe album. I do like all their albums though, its just 90 hiphop is hard for me to return too because the beats are usually pretty boring compared to more recent hip-hop. Even the classics from the 90's sound really outdated for the most part with only a few exceptions.

i like their last one over their first one, but that's like asking me to choose between kit kat and twix. Sure, i might say "kit kat" on most days...

I've not heard that last tribe too much but I do like it. Better than the first three though? Not sure of that. I must listen to the last one again

Their debut is super forgettable, but their last album has some interesting production choices. I prefer their last album.

"Their debut is super forgettable". (Starts to wheeze, then clutches chest. Fumbles around for heart medicine, but it's too late).

While i agree that Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders improved upon Prople's Instinctive Travels, i think it is quite a stretch to call it forgettable. That album, Straight out the Jungle, and 3 Feet High and Rising completely changed the course of hip hop music. While the last two years had been dominated by gangsta rap and the beginnings of hardcore rap, here comes A Tribe Called Quest singing about Ham n Eggs. It showed a completley different side to the black community than what was being portrayed by the media and other hip hop/rap groups of the time.
