How about performers who never show their face in public? I would call that pretty enigmatic if nobody knows what the fuck you look like. LMAO.
Here's some. And I guess Daft Punk would fit in that group, sort of.

Here's a very mysterious one. She was a cult disco singer in the seventies who may or may not be transexual. And may or may not have been some kind of spy or secret agent for East Germany. And may or may not have dated Mick Jagger and David Bowie and all these other famous people. Nobody knows for sure. Lol. Oh, I almost forgot. Salvador Dali may or may not have paid for her sex change operation. However, they were very close friends
That we know for sure.

These are the only two that I heard by Moondog, I had no idea he had about 10 albums. That's crazy.

I think I'm going to make a costumed list separate. Now this lady (?) is what I'm talking about.

I did a little more research, even though it was Wiki which means not 100% reliable, and found out she indeed dated Bowie for a year while he was married, and it's almost hundred percent likely she was born a male. Although her location of birth it's still not proven but probably French Indochina or Singapore or somewhere like that.

I have one of her album and she sounds like Marlene Dietrich with a much much lower voice. And a very heavy German accent, even though she was supposedly raised in England. And her music is just horrible.

Another thing that's a hundred percent sure is that she was the model on Roxy Music's For Your Pleasure album, and she was engaged to Bryan Ferry for a while. Even he admits this.

That is all quite brilliant. Don't know if I'll check her music out though if the voice is as bad as you say it is. But she sounds like a very interesting and colourful character

I'm not sure I know what you're talking about, but I think I know what you're talking about, and if I do know what you're talking about, then Tiny Tim is certainly what you're talking about.

Ranking Dread was arrested by the Jamaican police for shooting a cop, escaped from jail for long enough to record his dub masterpiece Ranking Dread In Dub with King Tubby & Scientist. his friend Tapper Zukie then helped him flee to England where he started hanging out and partying with reggae stars, but he was extradited to Jamaica to return to jail for the rest of his life very shortly after having just released one of the finest treasures in dub music which he recorded entirely while being wanted for murder and prison escape
