Seriously though, great managing. Deschamps saw that the teams that would play the game of possession would be punished by the team that could go the fastest on the counter-attack while being utterly dominated, and he did just that. Put a header on that ball in the box, make it land on Pogba's foot, long ball forward on Mbappé, you get at least a free kick, at best a goal. Fucking basic but Pogba, Kanté (except in the final game when he was very prettily trapped in by the Craotian manager) and Mbappé were phenomenal, Varane and Umtiti did the job and Lloris was elegant enough to totally ruin an immaculate competition by comitting the worst blunder of the year.
Plus Deschamps's legendary luck. Mostly that maybe.
Best playing team was Belgium I think, Craotia a close second but I wasn't convinced in the final game, except for their managing of the Kanté situation - the man never had an inch to breathe.
