Since Marcberg dropped, you can hear his outsized yet insular, wordy, grimy stylings and lo-fi production all over artists like Ka, Earl Sweatshirt, Quelle Chris, Action Bronson, billy woods, Westside Gunn and Conway, Willie the Kid, Knowledge the Pirate, NxWorries, Mach Hommy, Ratking/Wiki, Meyhem Lauren, Hus Kingpin, Your Old Droog, etcetera. Without him, I think the hip-hop landscape would look completely different. Alongside Lil Wayne's influence on Atlanta rap and The Neptunes'/Kanye's on Chicago/Brockhampton/Odd Future (and arguably also Good Kid, m.A.A.d City's huge influence on lots of people), I think it's fair to point to Roc Marci as one of the sculptors of the current (wider) rap scene. _________________ 2021 in full effect.
