Collaborative Diary: 2010 - Music Diaries - Forums : Best Ever Albums

Posting this here so we can have all the discussion in one place. Does this sound like a satisfactory structure? Following Tilly's ideas, but I just split it into steps. Step 1: We build our 2010 charts, discussing what we're listening to here as desired. I would appreciate a good amount of time for this, because I have never made a 2010 chart before. Step 2: Once everyone is ready, we come up with our must-listen lists and post them, featuring our actual favorite five records, not just five we think are obscure or underrated. Step 3: We all check out each other's must-listen lists and then determine a group chart.

Well here’s my submission:

1. Beach House - Teen Dream
2. The National - High Violet
3. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
4. Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
5. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

And for the honourable mentions:

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me
The Tallest Man On Earth - The Wild Hunt
Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti - Before Today
Sufjan Stevens - Age of Adz
Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
Tame Impala - Innerspeaker (going for that one extra for some homegrown rep.)

Always knew this was a fantastic year for music but Jesus does just writing it all out really hammer it home. Especially since it’s one where a record like This Is Happening or Have One On Me can’t pierce my top 5 and Tame Impala isn’t found in my top 10. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this whole wonderful procession, I really appreciate it guys.

Submissions will close at midnight Eastern Time tomorrow, January 31. The following day, I will use a random number generator to arrange the order for the bonus draft. I'm thinking the following should be bonus draft rules:

1. If there are no albums left to pick that you love and want others to hear, post in this thread to forfeit all remaining picks. You can and should forfeit all your picks before we begin if you do not intend to participate in the bonus draft.
2. Try to pick as soon as possible. That said, users have up to 24 hours after the previous pick to make a choice. After 24 hours, you will automatically forfeit all remaining picks and it will become the next user's turn.
3. If you have bonus draft picks, please try to check this thread regularly. And please don't confuse people by making a pick out of order!

Sound good?
