I don't care if I'm late, I'll post anyways since I love hiphop

1. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
2. Hopsin - Knock Madness
3. Nas - Illmatic
4. K-Rino - The Big Seven Collection
5. Kanye West - Late Registration
6. Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele
7. Ice Cube - Death Certificate
8. Joey Bada$$ - B4.Da.$$
9. XXXTentacion - 17 (although it's more R&B/Soul)
10. Chamillionaire - Ultimate Victory

Also, great that we love gkmc more than overrated tpab right here! XD

Sweet - thanks for posting. Nothing wrong with being late. These were originally designed to have discussions about genres with a side order of games. I was hoping they'd almost be like BEA portals to genres or something, but it kinda fizzled out. There's more to this project if people are still interested.

By the way if anyone hasn't already checked out these songs, I'd like to thank the canon game for getting me into them... some of the best rap songs ever imo:

MF Doom is sick. Have you listened to Vaudeville Villain?

I'll be honest, any madvillian stuff I never really got into, even after multiple listens mostly due to multiple recs. Maybe those two songs will be gateways for me into his style.

For me a good rap song can't just be from good rapping. Just like any other form of music, if it focuses 80% on the lyrics or the vocal performance... I'm out. I'm not saying he does this, but I have heard a lot of people talk about how he's the best rapper and so on. I'm just not finding a lot of tonal intrigue. His vocal samples (I'm guessing from kung fu movies, but I don't know) annoy me for some reason. I just want some good music and rapping, which is delivered fantastically in the two songs above. The rest of the album I felt like one or the other was missing.

His rapper name is MF Doom, Madvillain is the collab he did with Madlib.

Vaudeville Villain has almost no cartoonish samples. And it contains a few tunes with that caliber you like off of those two songs above from Mm..Food. I'd be surprised if you wouldn't like the title track, A Dead Mouse, Let Me Watch or Popsnot, considering what you want from him. 🤔

Trust me, I was on the same shit as you, I'm pretty much describing that on my description to Vaudeville Villain on my top 100 chart (at #86)

Yeah but Doom said "borderline schizo, sorta fine tits though". So you're objectively wrong.

That line illustrates his prominent rhyming!
