I really loved that boygenius EP, and particularly this song. I just happened to prefer Daytona, and particularly this song. I'm biased. Lord Willin' is one of my favourite albums ever, and I'm a sucker for Pusha's dextrous, sneering coke raps over clipped soul samples (or, in this case, a clipped Hammond organ sample from an obscure, vaguely jazzy, proto-metal group, which when added to those vocal alarm sounds gives the whole thing a Sister Nancy meets El-P downtown vibe). It's a riotous, rip-roaring, extremely fun series of outsized, in-the-know dealer boasts, which is literally all I ever want from a Pusha T song. This stands with 'Cot Damn', 'Young Boy', 'Grindin'', as one of his very best. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
