A folk-y masterpiece. Arguably Bruce's best post-Tunnel of Love album, even if it lacks his incredible songwriting by nature. Very interesting decision to interpret only songs that Pete covered rather than wrote himself, but the layering of interpretations within interpretations works. All 13 covers are incredible (I also highly recommend everyone seek out the "American Land Edition" which adds another five tunes) but the best is probably "Jesse James" with that pounding bassline.
