I can understand the freshness/modernity of Autechre over FL. FL is a bit worn. Autechre at times made me feel like I was playing a video game and not in a cool way. It just seemed a bit too squished dynamically to be terribly interesting or really musically do much for me. FL on the other hand is gushing with musical beauty with a lot of dynamics in tone/layers, etc., even if it too can feel flat if on repeat.
First listen of Autechre I really didn't like as I found it too abrasive. On a second listen though I do like it quite a bit. Yeah, of the two tracks it's the one that's not aged a second and I really dig how the atmosphere builds. I still voted for Lips as it's a great song but would be happy to see either progress.
