I've never gotten the love for Maps. To my ears it's a really really plain indie rock song that doesn't hold a candle to a lot of other classic 2000s indie jams. Anything The National did was a better version of this. Maybe I'm biased because I never heard the song until like 2012 but I just don't get it.
Rap Snitch Knishes isn't my favorite song from Mm...Food but it's very delightful and gets my vote here.
It would lose its innocence, naivety and longing which I think is its strength. Be replaced by self-pity and smug cynicism.
