Yeah in all honesty I've never really been into anything by Beck since "Mellow Gold", in my mind he's a debut-album wonder. But this song is certainly affable and charming enough, but The Rip is just a masterstroke (again coming from someone who isn't a big Portishead fan)
In all fairness, I should have looked up the lyrics but I guess I just went by how I've always heard it. No wonder, I didn't get good grades in spanish class

I listened to the song thinking it was jibberish for like 100k listens in. Wasn't until a friend pointed it out and now it makes so much more sense.
Also it looks like I should give 2000s Portishead another shot. And all y'all's should give 2000s Beck another shot as well hehe. No but seriously I didn't realize how fantastic it was... Was a 90s fan and didn't get into 2000s until like 08?
