There have been more comments about this, but as there was no response to them, I don't deem this a duplicate. Can we please make it possible to delete old comments. Some I find very cringy, and are the reason why I don't friends to this site, because I don't want them to find things I wrote years ago. Or at least make it an option to hide your comments on your personal page.

Only the latest comment in a thread can be deleted by the person that made it. If a comment isn't the latest one in a thread, and subsequent comments refer to it, deleting it would disrupt the flow of a thread. However, If there are particular comment(s) you'd like deleted, please let me know via PM and I'll be glad to assist.

I get that that may be an issue for forum posts, but comments on albums hardly ever refer to each other. But even on forum posts I don't see the issue, on a lot of large social media sites you can delete your comments, and they're doing fine. Don't you have the same issue if someone deletes his/her account?
What if you only allow very old comments to be deleted? Where is the harm in that? And let me remind you of the lack of an option to hide your comments on your personal page. My friends can easily click on my comments, sort them by oldest, and voila: skeletons out the closet. Making it possible to hide them will already solve a lot for me.

BEA could add a public/private setting for comments on your personal page in same way as collection / wish list etc (comments would still be visible across the rest of the site but it will make it a lot harder for other people to see your entire comment history).
