but after years of loving everything that is and was nusrat, i'm finally digging into some of the other artists in the qawwali world. some standouts for me right now:
i've always been into traditional music, but there's something standout about qawwali that, for me anyways, stands out from other more traditional forms of music. perhaps it's the religious constraints on the music and how that's impacted the development of the artform. it could be the spiritual nature of the music itself. but there's something truly otherworldly about this music that i've not experienced with anything else. beautiful stuff.
also, props to me for making a semi-legit music diary post. patting myself on my back right now.
and yet this album is clearly not the same uk clouds that released this album. granted, clouds isn't exactly the most creative name, but it boggles my buzzer a bit how many groups have the exact same name.
and this isn't even getting into the whole google-ability of clouds in general. so you tell your mates to check out your music - you can't trust them to simply google "clouds".

What really sucks is when you have an inactive band who barely was anything take up a good band name.
i think i agree with you, but i can't think of any examples off the top of my head. i guess the only ones that come to mind are groups who've merited title reservations (e.g. cocteau twins, blonde redhead, sonic youth).

I guess I was referring to band camp or reverb Nation groups who are no longer active. If made a real name for yourself that's different.
I mean even nirvana was sued. But that was pre internet.
