Due to how things went with him at one point, my newest favorite act may fall into the controversial category. Northern Calloway is the name of the singer, and eight of the twelve songs from his one and only album came from his heart, mind, and soul including the first two and the final three. If the name doesn't ring a bell, anyone here who is no stranger to the early days of the Sesame Street children's TV show will know him as David. Anyway, I was born in 1982 and so I grew up with the show, but I only just recently discovered this album of his voice, and all that it has done along with everything else of him that I have found online is make me wish that I had been born sooner. Why? Sadly, Northern is another one of the many who is no longer with us. I was only seven years old when his final day happened. Anyway, to me, the album only gets better with every listen. To me, Northern was and still is the complete and total package and even though I am well aware of how sad and questionable his last few years are, his decision to stay with a children's show for so long in my opinion only showed how well intended Northern was. Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac is wildly overrated (not necessarily on BEA specifically, but in general) by people who think that admitting that Rumours is their masterpiece will make them less cool.

this release from the smile got me convinced it's time for radiohead to hang up the skates and let thom and jonny move on to the smile for good. don't get me wrong. i loved a moon shaped pool, the king of limbs, and in rainbows. thoroughly. but this is the most exciting t&j collaboration we've gotten since hail to the thief. skinner is a much better drummer than phil, and while i love what ed and colin bring to the table, they're not all that missed. which kind of surprises me. but also, recency bias. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
