I'm not normally big on virtuoso shredders, but I like Paul Gilbert's live instrumental medley of The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill straight into While My Guitar Gently Weeps:
Three days after Help! was released, The Silkie, a British folk quartet signed by Brian Epstein, recorded this Beatles track. The session was produced by John Lennon. Paul McCartney plays guitar, and George Harrison plays tambourine and keeps time by knocking on an acoustic guitar. Ringo was not present. When released, it reached #28 on the UK charts. The Silkie was supposed to tour America, and were even booked to be on American Bandstand and The Ed Sullivan Show...but they couldn't get their visas. Their UK album (which was all Dylan songs) failed, as did the US album that included this song. A year later, the group split up. Two members played together in pubs as The Silkie for 35 years, but they never recorded again. All four members have passed away. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold
