What a fabulous gig last night, The Errol Linton Band at a new venue to me, The Hampton Hub in South West London.
Excellent venue, probably holds a couple 100 at a push. Has a bar that actually served proper beer in glasses.
From the moment they came on the stage, and the the duration of the two hour gig, the band were on fire. I've see Errol play many times but this was undoubtedly the best I have ever seen him. The harmonica playing was top draw, his now got a great young guitarist with his who is out of this world and the rest of the band are top notch musicians.
Also bumped into a load of people we hadn't seen in ages + people we had arranged to meet and that always adds to the enjoyment. Sharing great music is always a joy.

Last night I went to 229 in Central London to See Sari Schorr. The gig was original scheduled for Bush Hall in SW London but was moved to the smaller 229 a few days ago. Bush holds around 500 and the smaller venue @ 229 (there are two venues in the same building) holds 200 max. About 50 people turned up which is a shame because others missed a great set from a superb vocalist.
Straight ahead blues in the vain of Robin Trower, great range as a singer and a really great backing band. Great night.
For the first time since the last 70's I saw Robin Trower live last night at the fabulous Shepherds Bush Empire.
Played as a trio, one of my favourite combinations and the guitar playing was phenomenal. No James Dewar on vocals (obviously) but a great replacement, didn't catch his name unfortunately. Played all of the obvious tracks and played them superbly.
I was supposed to be having back to back gigs this week but the Intransigents gig tonight at the Hampton Hub has been cancelled. Pity as they are a great CBGB's / Paisley Underground influenced band. Also can't catch their next gig at the Dublin Castle, a pub in Camden not the actual castle in Ireland, as I'm seeing the Sheepdogs that night.

I suppose you know The Bevis Frond is one of my favorite discoveries as I had never heard of them/him before We're Your Friends, Man of 2018, still one of my all-time favorite albums. And although I think only few people in Belgium know the band, I saw them live in a very small venue in Antwerp. Since then I have listened to all (or maybe nearly all because they've made so many) their albums and nearly all of them are top quality including London Stone. I have to say I like (all of) their post 2010 albums better but London Stone is certainly also a must-listen with especially Coming Round as the highlight.
