No prob! Thank you travelful!
I try to be comprehensive and to cover, give their due, to as many genres and great artists as possible as they almost always have some (or a lot) of greatness to offer (whether it be here with visual art, or with music, or film, or...). And I love the sense of discovery whether brand new or even that I also often get in "just revisiting"!
In case it was missed, the main list covering the "Greatest of all time" (according to me ) is on the very first page of this thread. Includes a section with images and links below the list, which also includes accompanying links to each "artist" page like those pages you're seeing with the recent Cole and Constable. While that "Greatest" list is pretty comprehensive so far, it is also still very much in progress with a long ways to go... and there is an even longer way to go with the artist pages if I ever feel like being "that" comprehensive ...and (a warning) I'm "insufferably meticulous" ... ... (and perhaps too strict for some) with the ratings/rankings
If you have any selections or "best ofs" that you'd like to share, I'm here for it, whether landscape or other genres. Constable and Cole are certainly among the great landscape artists, with Cole also venturing out towards history painting (with still a great focus on the landscapes) such as Course of Empire being his most famous. I will be adding more to their pages in due time. For instance, I added some more Constable selections yesterday and a very "rough" draft analysis for The White Horse, several of the same points of which are fundamentally applicable to his following works, with some technical variations, further developments, changes in tone or scene... but basically can be largely drawn from as a base from which to evaluate his later works. _________________ Best Classical
