I've also seen The Lady Vanishes and Rebecca, but too long ago to really judge them.

I know, I know: I like Notorious less than most other people. I'm sorry!

Getting a head start on the 40s project, I watched Foreign Correspondent for the first time. Pretty solid, would slide it at #17 on my list. A thriller about a NY reporter sent to Europe in the summer of '39 to find out if war was coming. While it contains some of the Master of Suspense's most memorable sequences (the assassination, the windmill, the plane), there was a strong sense of urgency to the film, given when it was made. It covers the early stages of the war as it was literally unfolding. Although Hitchcock was making films in America by this point, he obviously felt strongly for his native country of Britain, that was on the eve of battle while Foreign Correspondent was in production. A rushed production, for sure. But the timing was huge. He churned such a solid film in a short timespan, which deserves credit. Hitchcock also succeeded in making this film act as a wake-up call to America to what was happening across the pond.

Thanks for your active participation. 10 lists were created, each with some great differences. ๐Ÿ‘ I notice that no one ranked Vertigo first. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Would anyone like to create a BEA list? ๐Ÿค”
