DUDE 2 doesn't seem to understand why some people dislike pseudo-introspective autotuned "contemporary R&B".

DUDE 2 does not understand because DUDE 1 has not really given a reason besides "I don't like how it sounds," which is a perfectly acceptable reason to dislike anything, except that DUDE 1 also seems to be implying that this particular type of music is somehow cancerous to music, and that's a heavy claim that requires a little bit of explanation. DUDE 2 does not have a problem with DUDE 1 disliking the music; DUDE 2 does have a problem with DUDE 1 framing his general dislike of a genre as an insistence that said genre is objectively terrible, which, again, requires more explanation than "I don't like it."

This is the saga of DUDE 1 and DUDE 2 so far. Stay tuned for more R&B-centered flaming from BEA's favorite pair of snotty dingalings.

Lol - you rated "House of Balloons" 85/100 and I rated it 70/100.

Whatever. Typical escalating conversation into extreme positions.

You liked the lyrics? I haven't heard this or Thursday yet but the worst part and what kinda ruined HOB for me was the god awful lyrics - like worst of the year, made we want to turn the cd off kind of stuff. I thought the production was okay - nothing special, but his voice is stunning (maybe thats why people don't mind the weak lyrics?)

House of Balloons had horrible lyrics; he's actually gotten much much better at songwriting since his debut, which is one of the reasons I think it's weird that everyone thinks HoB is his best.

Still gotta listen to it. But if it's any bit as great as the other two... then god damn, 2011 just found its defining artist.
