One of my favourite bars in Soho is Cafรฉ Boheme, such a chilled out vibe and really interesting clientele. It's also a Soho staple having been around for as long as I can remember.
Anyway, they have music on every afternoon and I was walking through Soho, having done some album shopping, and thought that I'd pop in and see who was playing only to find the great Adam Blake, who has played with, amongst others, Errol Linton, Cornershop, Lunar Dunes, John Grant and Natacha Atlas Playing a couple of sets
Phenomenally good guitarist playing with a great harmonica player called George (didn't catch his surname).
What a wonderful way to while away a couple of hours hearing great musicians having fun. The crowd loved it and the bar was packed.
Just love it when a day comes together like that and it was free (minus the price of a few beers!)
Saw The Flaming Lips at Somerset House last Saturday. For anyone whose not familiar with the venue, it's a huge arts centre on the North bank of the Thames (here in London) not far from Waterloo Bridge. First time I'd been here for a gig.
It was help in a huge courtyard and what a gig it was. I'd never seen the Lips play ever and it was bonkers and brilliant in equal measure.
They played everything that you want to hear and put on such a phenomenal show that anything I say about it would not do it justice.
Suffice to say, gig of the year and go and see them if you get the chance

What a treat to see two jazz greats playing together along with a great band as well.
If you like artists like John Coltrane you'll love these guys
Very chilled out and a great way to start the festival.
On a personal note, ran into a friend of mine as the band started and we had a drink whilst listening to the music and then five more people that I know turned up just as I was about to leave for the next band and came along with me. Love days like this

Next up for me were Fuzzy Lights and what a great gig it was. Amazing to get to see this great Psychedelic folk band, think very early Steeleye Span but even more psych, in the back room of a pub but that's exactly what i got.

Next up at a bar that I never frequent usually, a too young clientele, but perfect for the indie stage was Shack 68
I saw the great Bristol based Soft Kicks. Saw them play last year and they were good, at High Tide they were bordering on brilliant. Multi talented indie band who are now writing their own, very good, material and still the occasional cover.
Every member of the band is a multi instrumentalist and all are very talented. If there is any justice in the music industry, which were know that there rarely is, they will make a success. We'll see. Fingers crossed

We had to head off around 6 so the last band that we saw at HT26 was The Long 90's. Great Fleetwood Mac type band, but heavier, with outstanding harmonies from the brother and sister vocalist.
The venue was way too packed to really enjoy the gig but great band
I hadn't been in quite a few years and last year it was cancelled. It was back this year and a group of us, all CFF veterans, decided to go.
Much leaner than usual, and less crowded and a great weekend.

1st up on Stage 1 at the two day festival was Nick Cope
I knew nothing about him but it turned out that he's a children's singer! Decent voice but I'm afraid that the lyrics to his songs illuded me and I rather switched off. Fine as we were chatting as people arrived at our pitch.

Next up on Stage One were Amaidi, an Aussie outfit who , for me, really kicked off the festival.
There were elements of celtic folk here and a great energy. Would I buy one of their albums? Probably not. Did I enjoy seeing them live. Most definitely.
