Not 2 but 3 albums I listened to from 1992:

First an album I already own/know:

Congregation (1992) by The Afghan Whigs
This is an album I already bought on CD when it was first released and I listened to it Many times... in the first years. But for one reason or another I have not included it in my year chart until now and haven't listened to it anymore. And that's a big mistake. It's their first album where they really showed their real face and it's very good. Of course nothing can be as good as gentlemen but it fits nicely into the trio Congregation/Gentlemen/black Love.
And the other thing I wanted to say: I saw them live two weeks ago on the last concert of their Soft Control Tour and besides 5 songs from that album they played songs of nearly all of their albums but only just one from Congregation, I'm Her Slave, which is good but definitely not the best song of the album. My favorites are Conjure Me, the title track, Let Me Lie To You and Milez Is Dead. I just don't know why this album was not yet on year chart and it now enters at the 23rd rank.

And the first an album from my wishlist:

Hey Babe (1992) by Juliana Hatfield
This is the first album of a woman I like the way she's singing. I won't say I think this is a fantastic album but it's good enough to enter my year chart at the 65th rank.

But then I realized that I promised Repo to this album because he thought I would like it:

Horseshoes And Hand Grenades (1992) by Chris Mars
I only found it on Youtube but it was a very rewarding listen. Chris Mars was part of The Replacements and when he wanted to contribute a number of songs he wrote to a new album of theirs, they were refused by Paul Westerberg and he decided to leave the band and go solo. And this solo album is really beautiful: it's maybe a bit less alternative and a bit more in the direction of power rock (although a track like Popular Creeps shows where he's coming from) but I immediately liked it very much with Monkey Sees and Midnight Carnival as my personal favorites. Thanks for this great rec Repo!! The album enters my year chart at the 25th rank.

Only an album I already own/know from 1991:

Ten (1991) by Pearl Jam
In fact I've never been a real fan of grunge. Of course I adored Nirvana but they were a phenomenon in their own and bands like Alice In Chains or Soundgarden were not really my thing. So the next one was Pearl Jam which in my opinion couldn't even be compared to Nirvana although it has that one great track, Alive, which has the mother of (nearly) all guitar solos.
Growing out of Mother Love Bone, there were still a few songs which had likeness to that band like Even Flow, a good song but not a great one in my opinion. But apart from Oceans, a song I really don't like, the album gradually grew on me. I still wouldn't call it a classic but it's an album I like.
A lot of the tracks became classics nevertheless. To prove that I would like to revert to De Tijdloze (the timeless), a top 100 list of songs voted every year by the listeners of Studio Brussel, an alternative Belgian rock station (not any more I think but that's maybe because I'm growing old). Already in 1992, Alive entered that list at the 59th rank and pushed on to the 6th rank the year after only to stay in the top 10 for an x amount of years. Jeremy also entered the top 100 in 1993 and was never ranked very high and sometimes was kicked out. But then there was Black which only entered for the first time in 2001 at 84, went to 47 the next year and by 2015 reached the first rank and stayed there for most of the following years also in 2025. And that track indeed also grew on me and I think now it's the second best track of the album.
Needless to say that this album needed to increase in my ranking and it does go from the 77th to the 42nd rank, still not very high but there was a fierce competition of incredible albums that year.

And no albums available on Apple Music any more on my wishlist.

Coincidentally, I'm writing a piece on this album. I've never considered this a grunge album. From my perspective, It is in fact a fantastic classic rock album. This is more Led Zeppelin than say Mudhoney. Itโ€™s very anthemic in parts and much more melodic and earnest than you would expect from a grunge band. Great album though

Of course I have to agree with you; at one moment it wqs as if every band of Seattle had to be considered as grunge but itโ€™s clear that the two best bands of Seattle of that time, Nirvana an Pearl Jam were not really grunge, both for their own reasons; as i said I donโ€™t really like the real grung bands which in fact had nu-metal as their logical follow-up, a genre I even dislike more

Two albums of 1993 I listened to:

First an album I already own/know:

Gentlemen (1993) by The Afghan Whigs
After Congregation, my choice for 1992, I couldn't help but throw in the best album of Afghan Whigs and to me an absolute classic. I always mentioned their concert I've recently seen/heard of them and from this album they played three tracks of which Debonair was the best of the whole concert. IDK, there is something about this track that makes it one of the sexiest songs ever especially also in the live version. The other two were Fountain And Fairfax and What Jail Is Like, also amongst their best. The other absolute classic on the album to me is When We Two Parted. Overall this album is the quintessence of their/greg's soulful and powerful force at the same time. I have always adored this album and it moves up from the 10th to the 7th rank of the year, again a year with a lot of competition.

And an album from my wishlist:

A Car Crash In The Blue (1993) by Atomic Swing
I had never heard of this album or of this Swedish band but it was a pleasant surprise: a good guitar album with both blues and psychedelic influences. I like it and it enters my year chart at the 58th rank.
