Oh I've just discovered this...

I wish the whole world would listen to this and join me in lying lazily in the grass on a spring afternoon to exchange views on how sweet the wet flowers smell...
And then we'd all cry and have some more Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc, and listen to Ted once more...

I depends who the listener is. A lot of Guided by Voices songs though. I have thought so many of their songs are classic pop/rock songs, and would be hits if it wasn't for their quirkiness.

Also, off the top of my head:

Watch the Sunrise--Big Star
A House is Not a Motel-- Love
The Bleeding Heart Show--The New Pornographers
Underwater Moonlight--The Soft Boys
Whiskey Bottle--Uncle Tupelo
Carry the Zero--Built to Spill
Zimbabwe--Bob Marley and the Wailers

Really, I could go on and on...

I have several of the Neko Case albums, I really like her voice, wasn't she a member of New Pornographers, how different are they?

It's surprising how many people haven't heard Television, so "Marquee Moon." That's the only song I can think of that really stands alone; most other bands have a bunch of equally great songs but Television has abunch of great songs and this angel of a song. I would probably show themJoy Division's "Wilderness" too, really into that song right now; and "Frankie Teardrop" for the screams.
