The Spurs aren't there yet mentally. They are close, and because they are so young, we should be seeing them in the final again and again.
For those who compare Wemby/Shai to Magic/Bird - it's way harder to keep dynasties together now. One can hope that the Spurs and Thunders will be slugging it out for the west for years...
Good for the Knicks. I don't see them doing this again - Spurs are only getting better, and Thunder will get healthy. Also, the east will get tougher as the Pacers get healthy, and the Cavs, Pistons and Celtics will be back. The Raptors and Hawks should be improving as well, and I'm not even factoring where Giannis ends up.
I'm happy for Brunson and the Nova Knicks. I'm happy for Anunoby. Covid was tough on Towns - he deserves this. It's also been 50+ years for NY.
Which franchise is the next one to be overdue? Kings? Hawks? Clippers? _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.
Even though I was rooting for the Spurs, it wasnโt by much, and I do think itโs great for the NBA (and ultimately maybe even for Wembys development) that the Knicks won and in the way they did it.
But I wanted the Spurs more because I really like how theyโve constructed their team (much more reminiscent of the previous 2000-2010 era or 90s with an added dosage of the 3 ball) and just get excited about the greats of the NBA and whoโs next โ and Wemby certainly appears to be next if he can just improve on some of his flaws and maintain health.
Seeing the Knicks win wasnโt much of a โlossโ. Really liked their team and how they truly came together for the playoffs. Love how they played in the finals, how clutch they were, their heart, and Brunson has some Kobe and Iverson in him which is always welcome in todayโs NBA. That final 45 pt game was one for the ages. _________________ Best Classical Best Films Best Paintings
Skap is a bit hyperbolic for entertainment and clicks, but nevertheless the hypocrisy he points out is absolutely valid.
Also, this is not meant as me in any way trying to knock down Brunson, whoโs performance was awesome and very deserving of Finals MVP and all his flowers, and who is very much the kind of player and mentality I respect and like the most. _________________ Best Classical Best Films Best Paintings
Whew! So happy that my Celtic Nation missed out on Giannis. Giannis is amazing, but he's an OLD 31 because of his physically demanding style of play. I view him like I would a running back in the NFL.
When's the last time Giannis had a meaningful playoffs? Was it 2021? Five years is FOREVER in the NBA.
I'm for keep the Js together and finding a GREAT 5. Not just a serviceable one who actually overachieved in the regular season like this year. Our 5s were exposed in the playoffs against Philly.
Older superstars worry me... While they can change a team, they can also drag them down. Injuries are also a risk.
Giannis to the Heat is huge - but it could weigh them down.
On a similar note, Kawhi back to the Raptors rumours worry me as a Raps fan. I guess it depends on what they give up. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

You mean like Paul George? ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ ..... ๐ข ...... ๐ข ...... ๐ซ
Philadelphia just beat us FAR worse than they did in the playoffs!!! ๐คฃ
This is literally WORSE than the Luka trade. We just made our rivals the 76ers FAR, FAR better.
I never thought in a million years that I would ever route for the 76ers, BUT I think I just might. Like why not. I really like Edgecomb AND Maxey and of course JB. AND, I lived in Philly for 5 years and loved it there. So....
JB vs. JT would be epic, BUT I honestly don't think my Celtics stand a chance. We seriously just made the 76ers a contender.
At least Knicks vs. 76ers vs. LeBron + (CLE or MIA) will be very interesting.
I really can't beleive this just happened. I'm honestly in shock. Someone should check in on me latter today. ๐

Could not believe my eyes when I saw that trade! Celtics usually make very good smart moves!
How did they not get a better deal for Jaylen Brown, a roughly top 10 player!?

I am dumbfounded. I honestly don't know how to re-engage with my Celtics rn. ๐
edit: I don't think I felt this bad about my divorce! ๐
Ok. After having a day to process this, here's where I'm at fan-wise. (This is just entertainment/reality tv/soap opera after all & for me its all about who am I routing for & then I dive in.)
I want the 76ers to win the NBA championship and Jaylen Brown to get his second Finals MVP. ๐ ๐ Now THAT would be good copy.
I think I'll lift my NBA embargo for next season. We made it through the playoffs with fewer injuries than 2025. Hopefully this means they are figuring out how to keep players healthy in today's fast-paced game.
Secondly, the 76ers have made a surprising move. It took me some time to understand what the teams are going for. The Celtics issue in the playoffs was they were over-relying on a few players to carry the team. Therefore, I kinda get why they would want to stock up high draft picks and build a stronger future. But man, I thought Jaylen Brown was beloved by the Boston organization and they would never trade him. I get why Boston fans are hurt. Hopefully Paul George has some gas left in the tank and the future draft picks work out. As for the Sixers, those four high draft picks are a big price to pay in my opinion. Bascially giving up five players for one, however the one is Jaylen Brown, an undeniably great player. If this doesn't work out, it will hurt Philly's future. They're going for a championship with their own Big 3 of Embiid, Brown, and Maxey. So yeah, I think I'll watch some NBA action next season after skipping this past year.

49ers by 1.
BUT, I'll be pulling for you guys. I LOVE the city of Philadelphia. (Just don't EVAH' expect me to route for the 76ers!!! ๐ )

Man, how the tides have turned. What is it about our teams and trading guys named Brown? First we gave you AJ; now you're giving us Jaylen. We both have something to look forward to.
