He is obviously among the great players, but what has he played with now? 100 hall of famers/future hall of famers?
Being that he is going on 50 yrs old and in his 32nd season, I don’t think it moves the needle for his “GOAT status” in particular (negatively or positively) to be playing on such a stacked team (I guess…?) but one does have to consider the real fact that he only seems to win championships — or even have a real shot — on very stacked teams and it kind of negates the notion that he is “The GOAT” or that he so clearly makes his teammates better (how often does this get stated as fact when his teammates stats usually show otherwise, or vs a Kobe or Jordan who very evidently did so by undeniable results? Like Jordan’s team legitimately and actually got better and better and better, closer and closer to a championship from the ground up — and then held it year after year in each full season through 1998, even as changes were made, other players in and out, even as they aged, got hurt, etc…). _________________ Best Classical Best Films Best Paintings
And yes, LeBron can be annoying… I respect the talent which is undeniable, but I would like him a lot more if his career path showed a lot more hunger and persistence against and truly overcoming of obstacle (organic improvement rather than stacking the deck, or jumping ship to a stacked deck when the going got tough). This is annoying if for anything because it also just makes it harder to evaluate his true value. On one hand he is an advanced stats nerds wet dream; on the other, the actual results, the advantage he should be giving his team, often don’t quite match up to his statistical case…
Anyway, usually I find Skip just plain annoying and ignore at all costs — a lot of his takes will drop your IQ off a cliff — but there can be a certain entertainment value in watching him just crash out over this shit 🤣
