  • Post subject: Who's The Hardest Band To Hate?
Ive gone through a few lists and noticed that everyone has artists or bands they have a soft spot for and other bands they pure straight hate (Radiohead, Pink Floyd and The Beatles even though extremely popular have their hate groups). I just wanted to see who thinks which band would be unanimously Un-hated (if thats a word).

From what Ive seen and heard I'd go with The Pixies, I've never really seen any large group of Pixies haters, and everyone Ive met and spoken to can enjoy their music without having to love them. I would also say that Simon and Garfunkel would come in at a close second.

Would be really interested to see what everyone else has to say regarding this.

I wasn't sure what I would make of the thread when I first read it's title. I thourght it was going to be about some certain boy bands with guitars that I dare not mention. Now I see what you are talking about though and yes I like both those artists mentioned.

Doolittle and Bossanova were both great. The other two were a little weak but never descended into bad.

Simon and Garfunkel, I have only listened to their one album but would listen to their others as I liked that album.

And to once again to skew the thread onto the Manic Street Preachers, I have yet to hear anyone say they hated all of their albums, it's always they were good up until a certain point (Usually The Holy Bible, Everything Must Go or This Is My Truth)

I think I'm the only person in the world who hates the Rolling Stones, so perhaps them.

The Flaming Lips : it's quite impossible to hate the voice Wayne Coyne and his so special world ....

but about the pixies, i don't really agree... you have to be a rock fan and used that sound to like them .... which is not the case of the Beatles for example ! so pop that even my grand ma doesn't bother listening to the Beatles... Smile

I know some people with a pretty severe dislike for the Pixies.

I've NEVER heard anyone rip on James Brown or Aretha Franklin, though. Come to think of it, '60s R&B, Soul and Motown is pretty untouchable in general.

I think that Simon & Garfunkel are bad enough to be hated. The Sound of Silence makes me sick.
By saying this I'm not saying that they suck. I like some songs by them. But still, they are ba enough to be hated.

Not sure if you wanted to limit it to bands, but in case you didn't I have never heard of anyone hating Johnny Cash. Even those who aren't into his traditional stuff from the 50's and 60s tend to respect the covers he recorded in the years before he died.

In case you did want to limit it to bands I would say CCR or The Clash.

I know a sizable number of people who hate CCR and a few who don't like the Clash.

Never heard anyone rip on Bob Marley, though.
