Jane from Occupied Europe has been difficult for me to nail down. It spent a little while on my overall chart, and every now and then I consider putting it back, but at the same time I'm really not too sure. That being said, it's still lightyears ahead of When the Comet Comes. Easy choice.

Is there a stream for When the Comet Comes somewhere? Can't find it on either Grooveshark or Spotify.

Hello everyone
This is not my favourite album outside of the top 1500, but I decided to nominate it as I thought it was one of the albums I had that were least likely to be known by others on the site, and so wanted to share it. As it turns out, I was right, and I couldn't find it anywhere. So I figured out a way to upload it somewhere (Sorry it's not on youtube, I haven't figured out how to make a video from an audio file and add a static image to it).
From the Tourney thread:
Fergenaprido wrote: | I've uploaded my nomination, The Way Out's When the Comet Comes. It's in two parts because the zipped file size was too big to upload as one. The last track contains a bonus/hidden track that's quite long (a lot of crickets in the background until the hidden song plays), The first song ends around 2:04, and the hidden song begins around 12:30.
Thanks to lethalnezzle for suggesting the hosting site. If anyone has any issues with the files, or wants me to email them the whole thing, just send me a PM.
Enjoy! |
So, hopefully you won't have any issues, but a few people have already downloaded it from the link so I think it should be fine. I just realized that I guess I could also put them in dropbox if people would prefer that method.
I haven't listened to the other nominee yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll still vote for WTCC in the end. I've discovered that I have a rather different taste in music than the forum regulars, so even if this doesn't go all the way and win it all I hope to have at least shared it with everyone. I've already seen in on someone else's chart, so for me, that's mission accomplished. Maybe one day I'll create a thread to share all of the albums that I have that I'm the only one on BEAs to have listened to.
And finally, my thoughts on the album: I discovered it a decade ago in the days of Napster. I don't remember what I was looking for (Tegan and Sara comes to mind, but I doubt that's right), but most of the songs from WTCC showed up in the results. Intrigued by the name I decided to download them, and I was pleased. I tried to buy it from my local music store, but couldn't find it anywhere. I finally found it for sale online from an independent music store in Vancouver (I might have the confirmation email still if anyone's really eager to get their own copy ). It's a good album, not a great one, and I don't know of anything else the band has done before or since. My favourite tracks are Spin the World and The Role, with When the Comet Comes, Can I Trust This Love, and Get Out of Your Head pretty decent too.
That's enough of me talking for now, go listen to this album! (okay, and the other one too, to be fair )

JFOE didn't do anything for me. On the other hand, When the Comet Comes was going to have to overcome the points it lost for its unavailability. But once I finally got it downloaded (grumbling all the way), and played the first track. It grabbed me from the first line "Don't be afraid when the comet comes"
Totally worth it. Way Out vote.
