overlong ambient lo-fi droning vs. overlong ambient lo-fi droning
When the textures/songwriting/atmosphere come together right Natural Snow Buildings can be AMAZING, but that doesn't happen nearly as often as it should. There's a lot of lazy drone-y noodling on this album.
Hin Fort freaks me out, especially some well timed vocal samples. The absurd hour long song is justified because the length feels necessary to the create the exhaustingly hypnotic, time melting mood. Also the cover is awesome.

Couldn't get into any of these two....Voted for Shadow Kingdom. _________________ "And canโt you see youโre in on it?

overlong ambient lo-fi droning vs. overlong ambient lo-fi droning
After listening to Hin Fort, reading dividesbyzero scarily good ULL (I mean, really, how are us mere mortals supposed to compete with that work of art), and considering the reputation of The Poe, I was kind of looking forward to lazily typing "This" and getting pumped to head to Chunk E Cheese for my daughter's birthday party for some serious whack-a-mole action. But, holy shit, maybe Drak was right. Maybe I am just a Re-Poe, because that was fantastic. I mean EVERYONE should be listening to this. In fact everyone should listen to this heavenly freak-folk drone curiosity on repeat until it clicks. LOL.
Shadow Kingdom
ps. Both album covers are the bomb!
edit: Hin Fort has really grown on me. I didn't know there was a second album until today. That drew me in immediately. Aural horror theater. Especially that first track as Goodsir pointed out. Both these albums are dope.

Wow, two of my favorites in the whole tourney pitted against one another. I think I'm going to go with Shadow Kingdom ultimately. If Hin-Fort had been cut off after the first disc it would've been a no-brainer, but unfortunately the second disc wasn't quite as high quality. Still mad dope, though.
Pretty sad that one of these has to go after this round, though.

๐ฎ no way! That second disc is what pushes this one over the edge from unnerving into downright terrifying. One of the first times i listened to it was when I was going to bed, and I made the mistake of falling asleep during the first hour. That hypnotizing drone just got to me. I woke up during the second half, in the midst of screams, glass breaking, etc. I had forgotten that the music was even playing and i thought someone was getting killed or something outside my window. Absolutely frightening.
I cant say enough about Hin-Fort and if i wasnt such a lazy shit it would be on my overall chart by now. Glad people actually like it though, even if it doesnt win here.

Hm yeah, I for sure owe it another listen. The first disc was just so hypnotic, and I went into the second disc expecting the same thing, so naturally I was disappointed when it was so much different. I still liked it, though, and after another go I may very well learn to love it. Shadow Kingdom did more for me on a first listen, though.
I haven't listened to Shadow Kingdom yet, but I just can't see myself voting against Hin Fort. Like Nech said, the horror samples on the second disc are absolutely terrifying. When the woman was counting on the second track, I felt like I was approaching death itself.
