I'm still boring partial to Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, but there's not a single misstep on this gem.

Elegantly brutal masterpiece, like a cool Black killer in a 50s film noir. The title track might be my favourite jazz jam besides "Well You Needn't", "Lonely Woman" and "Blues Connotation". Listening to it as I write, and the cool fever of it all strikes me every time. Must listen for sure.
It might be the place to start plunging into Mingus' discography, as it feels less cerebral than his other masterpiece, The Black Saint & the Sinner Lady, more physical, gutsier.
