Whatever your opinion is of Kostas or Power Metal; the dude is a madman at the guitar for his particular schooling of it. For some background heโ€™s been playing since he was fourteen and cut his first record at eighteen. Heโ€™s probably the most dominant force of third generation power metal guitarists and is obviously influenced by everyone from Peter Frampton to Yngwie Malmsteen. He has great sensibilities in speed metal, power metal, and hard rock. He has impeccable timing, precision, and energy. Though of course, I don't expect him to get past this round due to the seemingly negative consensus on the genre he tends to play. Here's a taste:

Gus has a tough matchup as Ranaldo is great too. But Gus is ridiculous on guitar, I mean absolutely insane. Pure shredder, he's got as good of chops as just about anyone in metal right now.

That man can certainly shred, but i'm not very into shredding and Lee Renaldo is one of the greatest guitar players I've had the pleasure of seeing.

I have a hard time seeing myself vote against either guitarist from SY.

Shredding may be impressive, but it starts to get irritating after a while. Lee Ranaldo (along with Thurston for that matter) has been a big influence on how I play guitar with dissonant tunings and how to create harmonies and colours contrasting to Thurston's guitar lines. And what I've heard of his solo stuff is really good too.
