I remember liking this a lot back in the day. I just recently listen to it again, and couldnt get past half of the songs in the album.

And is it just me, or this album was album of the day just few weeks ago

Nothing's Shocking is like a gazillion times better. But, I should really listen to it again as it's been a while. Nothing's Shocking rules though and really set the stage for Nirvana. It really got us metal heads at the time exploring & opening up to other kinds of music. Well, at least me. LOL. Their self-titled debut is better than Ritual too.

Nothing's Shocking >> s/t >> Ritual

As a side note, I'm pretty sure Ritual de Lo Habitual was the very first cd I bought! Surprised

Nothing's Shocking is indeed better as a whole, but this one has Three Days though. That song is a masterpiece.
'Stop' and 'Been Caught Stealing' are fun singles as well.

You're right. I had a lot of fun nights listening to "Three Days". And "Stop" is a really fun single.

No.

I used to think that but Ritual is a masterpiece. The 2nd side is pure genius. I think you should give it another listen.

I totally know what you mean. I remember loving that second side, and remember thinking it was transcendent & epic. That first side got old fast though. Confused But, you're right! I seriously haven't listened to it in 10 plus years. Will listen to it tonight.

Nothing's Shocking is one of my favorite albums of all time though. It's ocean size! Very Happy

Ok, giving it a spin. Here r some thoughts as I listen...

The production and playing on the first side - especially the bass playing i- is so AGGRO. It’s like the aural equivalent of a Michael Bay movie or sth. It’s just trying too hard. The exception is “Obvious” which is understated, subtle & wonderful. Like rolling trough the streets in the car with your best friends all singing to the radio. Reminds me of Nothing’s Shocking. “Been Caught Stealing” does sound better today with the benefit of not just having heard it for the hundredth time in a week. I like the guitar solo and Perry’s “la da da la da daaaah” beat bopping.

And yeah, the second side RULES!!! I love how it starts off with those whispers "At this moment you should be like us feeling like we do" Translation: yo, go get your bong, dude. We’re going to get soo high! LOL. And than the guitar rolls in all gentle like lapping at my feet asking me to come in for a swim. It’s like the opposite of side 1 - sedate, chill & glassy-eyed. It rolls! Summertime rolls. Yeah, this second side speaks to me. It always did.

thanks, Mecca! Will be listening to side 2 more frequently now. Side 2 really is brilliant. Epic, exotic & transcendent. Very Happy Damn that first side though.

I don't feel the same way about this as I did 20 years ago...
