I'm looking for more prog music and was wondering if anyone here has recommendations. Apparently, according to my uncle, there's a ton of great obscure prog somewhere out there..

My faves are...
Kansas: leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Song for America
Genesis: Selling England by the Pound, Lamb lies Down on Broaday
Pink Floyd: DSOTM, WYWH, The Wall
Dream Theater: Metropolis Pt. 2, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Train of Thought
Neal Morse: ?, Testimony
Yes: Close to the Edge, The Yes Album, Fragile (listen to these three before Yessongs).
Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime (listen ASAP), Empire
There's a lot of great prog to choose from. Some of these bands include Rush, Styx, ELO, Moody Blues, Can, Skyliner, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, and Transatlantic.
I just gave you less than 5% of great prog. Prog's huge, and I recommend you start.

Sure.
1. King Crimson-In the Court of the Crimson King. To me, this is the definitive progressive album. From heavy, jazz based rock to soft, trippy flute arrangements with stunning lyrics and a very unique sound, In the Court is a masterpiece.
2. Yes-Close to the Edge. This album is only 3 songs, but the musicality is amazing. It's very atmospheric and the lyrics are very interesting, but not all too insightful or meaningful. The title track is among the most revered progressive songs of all time, and for good reason.
I'd start with those two. You have Pink Floyd in your charts. If you haven't listened to Animals or Atom Heart Mother, try those. The first is absolutely fantastic, guitar-oriented prog. The second is one of the strangest albums I've ever heard, and I love it.

Soft Machine's Third, and the German 70s obviously.

I'll reccommend some modern prog as others have talked about classics. These are some of my favourite all time albums. Have a listen to them; happily they are well considered over here too:
Porcupine Tree - Deadwig. If you like it go for Fear of a Blank Planet
then go for
Riverside - Second Life Syndrome
If you wish more symphonic and less heavy, go for
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon (reminiscent of Camel and King Crimson with violins, mellotron... and a concept behind)
If you wish more related to the Indie Rock movement go for:
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid (though this may be more closer to art rock than prog rock)
If you end up listening to them please tell me your thoughts, though you should listen to them at least twice or three times, I didn't find them as great till I listened to them a couple times.

"Art rock"? Do you mean, like, "Walter Keane rock"? _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Hahahah I find Elbow and Keane different bands but I can understand where you come from... this album may have some of the piano rock from Keane but I was thinking of art rock when I thought of their classical keyboards or a few different tempo songs to the typical pop songs. I was trying to express that this album isn't entirely prog but also pop, indie or art rock in my opinion.
