DOOM vs Madlib just doesn't feel right man.
It's like peanut butter and chocolate fighting.

Honestly I'm kind of disappointed that Pinata got nominated. It's obviously brilliant, and easily one of my favorites in the tourney, but I mean almost everybody on this site probably already knew about this album before the tournament even started.
But that being said, I definitely like it more than MM..FOOD, and that's also by an artist most people know, so I don't feel too guilty voting for Pinata. That being said, I'm gonna be really disappointed if it wins the whole tourney.

I wish Operation: Doomsday or Vaudeville Villain would have been nominated instead, but I'll still have a difficult time voting against MM..Food, though Piñata certainly makes me question my decision. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

MM...Food might be my favourite Doom album - it's certainly one of his most consistent. That said, I think there's virtually nothing to choose between it, Operation Doomsday, Madvillain, and The Mouse & The Mask. He brings a poignant, poetic irreverence to the genre in general, through both his Steven Wright-esque non-sequitur rhymes and his breezy, spontaneous-sounding beats. His sense of humour is cutting, his cadence is all his own, his angular flow brings his beats snap into place - he's quite simply one of the best rappers of all-time, as evidenced by his massive cult following and ability to transcend traditional genre lines set out by music fans (honestly, I know at least ten or twelve people IRL who don't really care for hip-hop but still love Doom, not to mention the hordes of people on the internet).
But Pinata still gets my vote here. It's an album I'd been waiting on for three years, and it somehow surpassed all my expectations. I've written about it tons before on these pages, so I won't retread old ground for the sake of it, but it's already a written-in-stone classic in my eyes. It's doubtful that I'll continue to vote for it throughout the tournament (in fact, pretty sure I gave my vote to The Diary in the first round), but I'd have no qualms with it winning the whole thing. _________________ 2021 in full effect. For whatever reason I've never been able to love Doom outside of Madvillainy. I guess Madlib just sort of makes that album for me. Going Pinata, because Madlib.

FOOD, whilst fantastic, is likely my least favorite DOOM project (other than the King Geedorah stuff). Really wish someone had nommed Operation Doomsday or Vaudeville Villain or even Mouse and the Mask instead...

These albums a crazily equal in my eyes... Going with MM...Food only because I think it's the underdog. At the end of the day though, I wouldn't pick one over the other. Both are hip-hop masterpieces. _________________ Doubles & Conch

This one's tough because while DOOM is probably my favorite rapper, MM.. FOOD has some problems like the skits and the instrumental tracks in the middle. Still, the actual songs are amazing. However, Pinata is the best hip hop album of last year and one of the greatest of all time. This is a difficult one, but I may go with Pinata for its consistency. Though "Vomitspit" is possibly the best beat of all time.
